poem

There sat the Queen
in all her splendid wonder,
on Her throne,
Head held high on a long,
straight neck,
Arms in position for defense
With wrists hanging limp
over the arm of her chair.

She seems infallible.
She looks immoveable.
Her eyes hold steady,
yet, like urchins peeping
from behind a curtain,
Emotions peer out
from behind the round dark
hiding place in her eyes.
afraid to be caught in their
fearful state.

The Queen rules.
She is decisive.
She seems strong.
She appears as if nothing
......... can unsettle the queen.
